This Welcome Kit contains all the information you need to prepare and deliver your 23 free starter images and your logo to SiteDesignWorks. The sooner we have your materials, the sooner we can get started!.

Your first step is to choose your artwork/images and submit them to SiteDesignWorks for production. Your website includes 23 free introductory images, provided they are in digital or 35mm slide format. Our Production Staff will size, optimize, and add these images to your website during website construction. If you signed up for Image Transfer, you will be able to add more images once your site is finished.
Not signing up for Image Transfer? Take advantage of our introductory image addition rate, a special rate available only during the construction of your website, for $6.50 each - 65% off the normal image addition rate.

Digital images are the preferred image format. They are easily replaced if lost and can be sent quickly over the Internet (saving you shipping fees). Since scanning original artwork always requires sharpening, touch ups and color correction, sending digital files lets you correct your own images beforehand, giving you the most control over the final product.
- Format:
- We accept digital images in JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PSD, and PDF format.
- Dimension:
- Images should be no smaller than 800 pixels on the longest side.
- File Size:
- Images should be no larger than 10MB in file size.
- Delivery by Mail:
- Digital images may be sent by mail on a ZIP disc, DVD or CD. Be sure to Print and fill out an Artwork Submission Form, and include it with your package.
- If you want your ZIP or disc returned to you, be sure to let us know. We do not return digital material automatically. There will be a $7.50 shipping fee to return artwork, unless a SASE is provided with your submission.

- Digital images submitted by mail must be accompanied by an Artwork Submission Form. Please use the link below to fill out and print your form.

- Online Delivery (FTP):
- Digital images may be submitted online via FTP. If your images are larger than 10MB each, please resize them to smaller file sizes, or send them via regular mail (see above). Please do not submit more than 100MB worth of files at one time.

We accept 35mm slides for your 23 free starter images. Our staff will perform minor color corrections and touch ups after scanning as a complimentary service. (See our disclaimer below.)
All other image formats, such as large or medium format transparencies and prints, will incur fees for scanning. During the construction of your site, scanning fees are subject to discounted introductory rates:
- 2 ¼ Transparency: $11/ea
- 4 x 5 Transparency: $16/ea
- 8 x 10 Transparency: $21/ea
- Reflective Prints: $50/hour
- Original Artwork Disclaimer:
- A digital image can look very different from the original. Scanning methods and equipment cause digital scans to look different from one scanner to the next. The process of compressing an image into a JPG for the web can negatively impact color saturation, especially in the reds. Variance among monitor calibrations causes images to appear different from one person to the next, making color corrections difficult to do, even when comparing scans to originals - e.g. what looks good on our monitor may not look good on yours. Web images may not retain the crisp, saturated appearance of their high-resolution, printable-quality parents. Most importantly, only you know how your images should look.

- Image Sizes
- Unless otherwise requested, we will size your images according to default values. These sizes have been chosen to allow rapid downloading for viewers with slow Internet connections, and to discourage illegal reproduction.
- Websites that use popup windows for zoom display can accommodate larger images than are shown in the examples. There is no fee to have larger images on these sites so long as you request it on your Artwork Submission Form.
- Websites with zoom images displayed directly on the page must be customized ($50/hour) to allow for larger images.
- Image Cropping
- Cropping thumbnail images into squares may give your Portfolio a more balanced and cohesive appearance. You may request to have your thumbnails cropped on your Artwork Submission Form as a complimentary service.
- We only crop thumbnails and will never crop your full sized, zoom images.
- Exceptions: Simple, Satellites, Postcard, Prism, Prismatic, Reflection, Vision and Sharp styles require cropped thumbnails. Our designers will crop your thumbnails to fit these styles automatically. Removing the crop on these styles is a customization.

A watermark is a semi-transparent copyright notice discreetly placed over your image, usually in the bottom right corner. You may request watermarks on your Artwork Submission Form as a complimentary service.

The purpose of a watermark is to notify viewers that your images are copyrighted. It is not a Digital Watermark, and will not give you the ability to monitor or trace unauthorized use.

We encourage you send a copy of your logo, which we will incorporate into your website at no extra charge. This will lend cohesiveness to your marketing and branding efforts, and makes a bigger impact on the viewer. The available space for your logo is 60 pixels tall by 500 pixels wide.
If you do not have a logo, we will create a simple banner/title to match your website. In this case, please indicate the verbiage you would like to use for your title on your Artwork Submission Form.

If your website will have customizations, please make a note of this in your Artwork Submission Form, along with a brief summary of customizations needed. You may have discussed your customizations previously with an SDW staff member, however a summary is still requested. A member of our production staff will contact you to finalize your design needs when we are ready to begin production on your website.

Our production team will complete your website within 60 days of receiving ALL necessary materials, including artwork and Artwork Submission Form, an Original Art Release Form (if required), a logo if you have one, and a domain name with correct host settings. Websites with customizations may take longer.

When production is complete, you will receive an email from our Production Staff with a link to your website. This marks the beginning of your Review Week, during which you should request any minor refinements or corrections to your site. You should also begin adding text to your site through the Text Wizard.
When the Review Week is complete, your site will go live to the world and your hosting fees with begin. At this point, any adjustments or additions that cannot be done through the Text Wizard will be subject to our regular production fees.
